Thunderbird can be used as a client for an ATT email account. Thunderbird will download messages from the ATT server and store them on your local system. Similarly, Thunderbird can be used to compose messages which are sent through ATT’s mail servers.
Update ATT Email Settings Thunderbird
Following are the settings required for ATT connection. Setting up your ATT Email in Thunderbird.
This document assumes that you already have Thunderbird installed on your Mac (or PC)and you just want to add an account for your ATT email account. Start with, get the accounts screen by clicking the right mouse button or using control-click on your Mac and select “Settings….”;

Once in settings screen, click on the “Account Actions drop-down and select “Add Mail Account…”

On this next screen, fill in your name, your email address, and your email account password and click the Continue button:

It may think for a while, then bring back a screen that looks like this:

At this point, you should be able to just click the “Done” button and begin to use your new email address. If you would like to verify that the server information is correct, you can click the “Manual config” button and see a screen that looks like:

Note: Replace “@att.net” with “@sbcglobal.net” because my account has been around for a while and is still using the older “sbcglobal.net” address.
After verification, everything is correct just click the “Done” button so get back to the account summary screen:

While updating AT&T email settings Thunderbird now user also have to create a new 16 digit secure key for using as a password in Thunderbird and there web email regular password.
